Last weekend Miss T took me on a stroll through NoLIta (North of Little Italy) in Manhattan. It was a balmy 76 degree day. Such a tease for spring!
Inspiration popping on the streets and in the boutiques! The day started with this incredible sight. A man with two GIANT Great Danes and a gathering of extremely chic Manhattanites photographing him. I couldn’t resist commemorating the scene…
Adorable dots in the window. For more information to plan your next visit… http://huminska.com/index.html
Another adorable Mott Street boutique, Poppy http://www.poppynyc.com/. The wares were wonderful but I was particularly charmed by this darling. Can you tell I was missing my pug?
Of course any shopping day requires a stop to refuel. In NoLIta there are many fantastic options. We chose Jacques…a little French bistro with a table outside just for us! http://www.jacquesnyc.com/nolita/location.html
Me & Ro jewelry store on Elizabeth Street had the most incredible floral installation in their window. Those are individual leaves and gerbers floating in water! AMAZING. http://www.meandrojewelry.com/st_meandroretail.aspx
My most exciting find of the day was Love, Adorned on Elizabeth Street. A lifestyle store with fine jewelry and tools for the home, travel, and body and tattoo parlor in the back. Unusual, definitely, but somehow it all works.
The owner obviously has an amazing eye with antique textiles, furniture, and accessories in the front of the store. Unfortunately, they have a “no photography” policy. (I encountered this more and more in NYC. What is up with that?)
They do have a blog, so if you are intrigued with their concept you may catch glimpses here http://loveadorned.com/?category_name=design
On March 24th, they were featured in the NYTimes in an article about American Rustic. You can read it here http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/24/garden/24farm.html?_r=1
I bought myself a wonderful antique textile from Love, Adorned. It should arrive week and I will share it with you all soon!
