For the Love of the Espadrille…

espadrille 1

Yesterday’s post got me reminiscing about a wonderful trip to Madrid 3 years ago.

Prompted by a charming article in Travel & Leisure authored by style maker Carolina Herrera, I set out to find Calzados Lobo to stock up on espadrilles.

Alas, espadrilles from Calzados Lobo were not meant to be but as a result I stubled upon another famous espadrille shop, Casa Hernanz.

Casa Hernanz has been around since the 1840’s!

The queue was fascinating, full of men and women of all ages.

I recall waiting in line for over 45 minutes wondering how I would order up these $8 espadrilles in English…

I have to say it was one of the most entertaining experience of our trip, a true slice of local life!
