San Francisco Design Inspiration

sf showcase

What a banner day!

I finally had a chance to take in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase House 2009.

I very much enjoyed the decorator showcase this year.

Love love loved all of the specimens and oddities on loan from the California Academy of Sciences as well as the gorgeous artwork throughout.

Overall I felt the designers did an amazing job presenting their unique ideas while maintaining a special cohesiveness that is often difficult to balance.

My personal favorites were the fresh color palette of the living room by Myra Hoefer, space planning, finishes, and hardware of the kitchen and bar area by J. Weiss Design, organic and artistic family room by Leverone Design and of course the fabulous drought tolerant roof garden overlooking the golden gate by Suzman & Cole Design Asociates (where this picture was taken).

When can I move in?

Then it was off to The Legion of Honor Artistic Luxury exhibit featuring Faberge, Tiffany, & Lalique.

The designs from these luxury houses were exquisite and I felt the curators did a great job showing the correlation between these three masters as well as presenting parallel viewpoints from what was created by other designers in the world at this very unique time.

My personal favorite was Lalique.

In particular I loved the floating rose vanity set, thistle and poppy themed broaches and necklaces, and the iron balustrades from the Paris Exposition depicting women with wings sprouting…breathtaking.

The SF Decorator Showcase House runs through May 25th, Artistic Luxury through the 31st.
